Christmas Traditions and The New Year

Couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill  always enjoy a 'traditional' Italian feast on Christmas Eve and Larry the Cable Guy informed us that he loves going to a family member's home and eating "oyster soup, chili soup and ham & cheese 'san-wiches'".  Our family plays the Nebraska card at Christmas and eats a perfectly built,  perfectly prepared Nebraska prime rib.  My mother-outlaw (I actually adore her and she taught me all I know about cooking) is truly the finest cook this side of the 'outer-banks'.  There will be way to much food, way to much drink and the desserts will be the final blow. I'll be waddling around the house in my new Christmas out-fit that, prior to dinner, fit fine and now feels two sizes to small. My pants will need elastic waist so I can sit without causing excessive bruising and allow the blood to make it to it's necessary destination points. Of course no Christmas would be acceptable with out the post-dinner nap.  Pants unbuttoned to allow for expansion, a prone position on the couch, fireplace snapping and popping and it's warmth filling the room...man, I'm tired already.  Another Christmas will come and go and I'll be thankful for my great family, understanding friends and the invention of elastic.

As the new year beckons, my tradition to make silly resolutions will continue.

I'll pray

#1) for car-keys that never get misplaced,

#2) for the will to drink less caffenine and reduce the number of times I have to hit Wal-mart each week

#3) to smile more (even during that time of the month)and  to remember that if it isn't LIFE THREATENING than I should bejust grateful to be alive

#4) and lastly that the next time my husband and sons walk into the house with their muddy, wet waders after I have just washed the floors that I can remember #3), forget #2) and find my car keys so I can get to the Espresso Shoppe.

Have a safe and Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
